DPC volunteer and Parkinson’s patient Olivette Mikolajczak organised a charity golfing event at Le Royal Club du Hainaut this August in support of Parkinson’s research.
Blessed with sunshine, 85 participants played 10 hours of golf in teams followed by speeches – from the club president, Anne-Marie Demoucelle and Olivette – prizes and a delicious dinner.
The event raised 2,500 euros for research thanks to sponsorship from the National Lottery, registration fees and individual donations, and it helped to raise awareness about the world’s fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease among a wider audience.
“Anne-Marie spoke eloquently about Parkinson’s disease but above all about the projects supported by DPC highlighting their importance in one day finding a drug that can stop and even cure this b@**dy disease,” Olivette reported.
Olivette plans to repeat the event next year with the generous support of the club.
“The club president said he was pleased that I was organising this competition and that we could repeat it every year.”
