Finding a cure
Research takes time. But waiting is not an option.
Since its founding in 2011, the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity (DPC) has supported scientific research with one clear ambition: to help move us closer to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
Progress in Parkinson’s research is real. We understand more about the biology of the disease today than ever before. New technologies allow deeper insight into what goes wrong in the brain. And yet, there is still no cure.
That is why sustained, carefully-selected research funding remains essential. We support science not because it offers quick answers, but because it is the only responsible path toward meaningful, long-term solutions.
Research is a sustained commitment to those who suffer from Parkinson’s disease today as well as to the possibilities of tomorrow.
Finding a cure
Why Research Matters
Parkinson’s is a complex and progressive neurological condition. It affects people differently, and its underlying mechanisms are still not fully understood.
Scientific progress is never the result of a single breakthrough. It is a series of careful steps—testing hypotheses, refining methods, and sometimes starting again.
Progress happens step-by-step when we view research as a shared journey rather than a series of isolated events.
Collective Effort
We all have a part to play in ensuring that the most-promising research projects get the funding required to move forward.
Stability
By supporting research over the long term, we provide the stability necessary for promising ideas to mature.
Scientific Rigour
Guided by experts, we support research projects which will provide important answers and help move us closer to a cure.
Philanthropy as a catalyst
How We Contribute
Our role is not to conduct research ourselves; our role is to enable it. We act as careful stewards of the resources entrusted to us, focusing on “translational” research—the vital link that turns a laboratory discovery into a meaningful improvement in a patient’s life.
Philanthropy helps to bridge the gap between a laboratory insight and a patient’s reality.
Bridging a Gap
Philanthropic support can help vital scientific projects move from early-stage discovery to the point when companies are ready to step in.
Global and Local Support
We collaborate with established research partners like the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek – Vlaanderen to maximize impact and credibility.

Finding a cure
Research is advancing.
We must keep it moving.
There is steady progress in Parkinson’s research—but progress requires continuity.
Every donation is a vote of confidence in the scientific process and a commitment to the people who experience the impact of Parkinson’s every day.
