About us
Our Mission & Conviction
The Demoucelle Parkinson Charity (DPC) is a Belgian foundation dedicated to supporting high-quality research into Parkinson’s disease. We believe that progress occurs when human commitment is matched with scientific rigour. For us, trust is not claimed; it is built over time through the clarity of our purpose and the consistency of our work. People living with Parkinson’s deserve an organisation that acts with seriousness, integrity, and perseverance.
Trust is built through clarity in why we exist and consistency in how we work.
About us
How It Started
Founded in 2011 by Patrick and Anne-Marie Demoucelle following Patrick’s diagnosis, DPC was born from a refusal to wait passively for progress. Inspired by the professional approach of international partners like the Michael J. Fox Foundation, they created DPC as a deliberate, constructive response to uncertainty. Today, we remain firmly rooted in Belgium while maintaining an international outlook, driven by the belief that lasting impact comes from clear goals and long-term commitment.
We created the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity because waiting was not an option. Acting responsibly, together with others, was.
About us
Our Role as Stewards
DPC acts as a trust-based grant funder. We do not conduct research ourselves; instead, we identify and support projects that meet the highest scientific and ethical standards. This allows us to remain focused and selective, guided by expertise rather than short-term trends. We see ourselves as careful stewards of the resources entrusted to us, accountable to both the scientific community and our donors.
We are careful stewards of the resources entrusted to us, guided by expertise rather than trends.
About us
Governance & Values
Good governance is essential to our credibility. Overseen by a board with diverse professional backgrounds, DPC operates with independent decision-making and total transparency. Our work is guided by three core values:
Passion
A deep commitment to a better future for those with Parkinson’s.
Positivity
A belief in constructive action and realistic progress.
Professionalism
High standards in governance, funding, and communication.
Professionalism defines not only what we do, but how we do it.
About us
A Long-Term Commitment
Parkinson’s is complex and research advances step-by-step. DPC does not promise quick solutions; we promise continuity. We commit to supporting research with patience, seriousness, and a profound respect for science, today and in the years to come.
