STUDY OVERVIEW:
University of Liège physiotherapy Masters students want to study the impact of dance on Parkinson’s patients and are looking for volunteers during 2022/23 autumn and winter.

That dance can have both a positive functional and emotional impact on people with Parkinson’s disease.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
People diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at stage <3 on the Hoehn & Yahr scale and available to attend regular dance lessons in Liege (with at least 80% attendance rate). Participants will be asked to not change their treatment or modify their usual physical activity during the study period.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Anyone with severe cardiovascular disorders, cognitive impairment – MoCA < 26, hearing problems preventing them from hearing music, or having had surgery affecting their motor function in the last six months.

WHEN?
The study will be carried out over 4 months during the autumn and winter of 2022/23.

HOW?
Participants will be randomly divided into two groups – one that will attend regular free weekly dance lessons – and one that will not (but who will of course be able to do so once the study is concluded!).  All participants will have an initial assessment and a final assessment.  The dance lesson participants are expected to attend at least 80% of the classes.
