On Sunday 7 September, the Royal Golf Club du Hainaut, located near Mons, will host a one-day charity golf tournament to raise funds for research into a cure for Parkinson’s disease. This event builds on the success of tournaments held at the club in recent years.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects those over 60, often causing tremors, muscle stiffness, and movement difficulties. While there is currently no cure, an active lifestyle—including sports like golf—has been shown to help manage symptoms when combined with medical treatments. Golf also offers valuable social interaction, contributing positively to the mental and emotional wellbeing of those living with the disease.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity, a Brussels-based foundation that funds promising research projects in collaboration with its US partner The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
