Below is Patrick\u2019s Parkinson\u2019s disease version of Monty Python\u2019s famous sketch \u2018What have the Romans ever done for us?\u2019. He\u2019s called it: “Monty Parkinson\u2019s\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s time to stop Parkinson\u2019s Disease. What has it done to us?\nIt has rendered our lives miserable.\nAnd not only our lives, but also our fathers\u2019. And our fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019.\nAnd our fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019;<\/span>\nAnd our fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019 fathers\u2019, and our\u2026<\/span>\nWell it\u2019s ok we already made that point.\nAnd what has Parkinson\u2019s ever given us in return?\n(long silence)\n<\/em>Priority?<\/span>\nWhat?\nPriority.<\/span>\nWe don\u2019t need to queue anymore. We go straight to the front of the line.<\/span>\nAlright. I\u2019ll grant you. But, apart from priority, what has Parkinson\u2019s ever done for us?\nFree upgrades on high-speed trains.<\/span>\nFree public transport in cities.<\/span>\nDedicated parking places, just for us!<\/span>\n\u2026 and they\u2019re free!<\/span>\n\u2026 and well located!<\/span>\nCheap physiotherapy.<\/span>\nMore innovation and better research.<\/span>\nFundraising.<\/span>\nBeing part of a community.<\/span>\n\u2026. and great care from loved ones!<\/span>\nWell, the great care from loved ones goes without saying!\nNew friends.<\/span>\nInspiring stories.<\/span>\nEnhanced creativity.<\/span>\nWisdom.<\/span>\nAlright. But apart from priority access, free upgrades, free public transport, free parking, cheap physiotherapy, innovation, research, fundraising, new friends, a sense of belonging, creativity, wisdom, \u2026 and bloody hell, \u2026 what has Parkinson\u2019s ever done for us?\n(short silence)\n<\/em>Humour?<\/span>\nOh stop taking yourself so seriously!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
