Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that is often characterized by tremors, muscle rigidity, and other movement difficulties, and mostly affects people over the age of 60. There is currently no cure for this fast-growing condition.
However, sport, and in particular
golf, has been shown to be helpful in controlling the symptoms alongside medical treatments. Combining an active lifestyle with a social dimension, such as is offered by
golfclub membership, also helps Parkinson’s patients to feel connected which is good for their mental and emotional wellbeing.
The funds raised at the two tournaments will be used by the Brussels-based Demoucelle Parkinson Charity to fund the most-promising research projects, selected by its’ own experts and in partnership with the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Of the two tournaments, the one on August 11 tournament is open to members and guests. Interested golfers are asked to register via i-Golf from July 12th. The one on September 2 is currently private.
